A recent survey of 359 respondents conducted by Knightsbridge and BusinessWeek Research finds organizations are more often meeting the expectations of business intelligence projects. More than six out of 10 senior executives and mangers said that their business intelligence and analytic deployments have achieved "at least" the business value they expected. Senior executives are frequently cited among the top three BI decision-makers in organizations, and about half of presidents and CEOs take a primary role. Respondents cited high-level sponsorship, business subject-matter experts and a tight IT organization as the most important contributors to success.

Conversely, a lack of expected success was most often attributed to poor user adoption, incomplete or inaccurate business requirements and disconnects between business intelligence projects and performance management.
